CHARLES GNIECH
Presented at Gallery 180 of The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago
After the show selections were finalized, each artist was asked to submit a statement defining their accepted work. As I reviewed the statements, a common theme appeared. All of the statements seemed to focus on humanity -— who we’ve become and how we relate to one another. A catalog was created from that material.
As the viewer moved through the exhibition, it was appearent that some of the pieces were quiet, subtle and introspective while others emerge confrontational. Yet, each piece invited the viewer into a unique world in which the artist shared an observation of the human experience.
